Collector's Journal 2011-2015
During 2011-2015, I participated in many vernisations, visited art museums in the country and abroad, and I was pleased to see five art books, printed in small prints, four financially supported by me. Most copies (1482) of the five titles I gave to painters, sculptors, art critics, art collectors and libraries in the country and abroad. This log contains only notes about the plastic art events I participated in. I started keeping it regularly from June 1, 2011. Until then I had sporadic notes on different notebooks from dozens of temporary exhibitions and visits to art museums. I have recently read the diaries of the brothers Goncourt, Radu Petrescu, George Orwell, Mihail Sebastian, Saliva Dali, Samuil Rosei, etc. and I came up with the idea of introducing pictures with the people quoted in my diary. I think these pictures will be even more important as time passes, and some of these names will become outstanding personalities of Romanian plastic art. Of course some are right now, and time will validate others. And there is something: there are pictures of a significant number of personalities from the field of Romanian visual arts. The journal is spread over five years (2011-2015). Statistically speaking, there are 334 pictures. Most of them are made by me or my wife. The other nine we have obtained from different sources indicate the provenance. Each year ends with a set of photos grouped by artists, art critics, established artists, young artists, collectors. Many of the figures quoted in the text of the journal live. I thought a name index would be beneficial for anyone who wants to be in the book quickly, so at the end of the journal this index is found.
